Residents of villages in Wase Local Government Area of Plateau State are fleeing their homes as gunmen intensified attacks in the areas, Daily Trust gathered.

Ibrahim Musa, a resident of Anguwan Ali, one of the areas ravaged by the activities of bandits, told Daily Trust that the bandits, while returning to their base, stormed the said village and shot sporadically.

He said, “On Sunday, they Attacked Anguwan Ali when they (gunmen) were returning to their base. They shot many people and some have died. One was shot in my presence. A lot of the villagers escaped with gunshot wounds.”

Another resident of Bunyun community, Abduhamid Cikaiki, also told Daily Trust that they have been living in fear in their villages and called federal and state governments to come to their aid as there was no presence of security officers in Bunyun community.

The spokesman of the Operation Safe Haven, a multi-security task force maintaining peace in the state, Major Ishaku Takwa, said personnel had been at the villages of Wase since Tuesday on clearance operations to fight the terrorists.

He, therefore, appealed to the people to assist the officers with useful information that will aid the operation.
