Richardson twice to lead Tottenham to their first win since October 27 against Newcastle at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on Sunday.

Tottenham have lost four of their last five games since topping the Premier League table after beating Crystal Palace on October 27 to squander the momentum from their scorching start to the season.

During that losing streak, Ange Postecoglou’s attacking tactics were criticised, but the Australian stuck to his guns and was rewarded with a goal-scoring frenzy that ended 4-1 at Newcastle’s expense.

Richarlison, who has struggled for consistency and momentum throughout his Spurs career, scored in either half to give Ange Postecoglou’s team the three points they needed at home.

Richarlison had only scored five goals in his previous 48 Spurs outings, but he was on target from Son’s precise ball and practically sealed the three points after controlling Pedro Porro’s long pass.

Tottenham took the lead in the first half through Destiny Udogie and Brazil attacker Richarlison increased the lead before the break.

Richarlison scored again in the second half, and Son Heung-min converted a late penalty as fifth-placed Tottenham closed the gap on fourth-placed Manchester City to three points.

Joelinton’s goal in the final seconds was no consolation for outclassed Newcastle.

Following Thursday’s 3-0 drubbing at Everton, this was another disappointing result for Newcastle, who sit four points behind Tottenham in seventh position in the Premier League standings.
