Nigeria’s anti-corruption agency, the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) says it arrested one Mustapha Muhammed, aka Mustapha Naira for allegedly sabotaging the economy.
The commission said his arrest was part of its ongoing operation to sanitise the foreign exchange sector and rid it of speculators and all shades of economic sabotage.
A statement issued by the agency’s Head of Media and Publicity, Wilson Uwujaren, on Tuesday said Mustapha Naira was picked up on Saturday, November 12, 2022, at Wuse Zone 4, the hub of black-market operations in the Federal Capital Territory.
“The suspect has made useful statement while the investigation continues,” the statement partly read.
